20th December, 2018 Morning Brief

A gap down opening can be witnessed today as Asian stocks declined after US stocks declined sharply on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve’s forecast of fewer interest-rate increases in 2019 fell short of investors’ hopes of a more dovish monetary policy.

Benchmark indices closed higher for the seventh consecutive session on December 19, driven by lower oil prices and bond yields. A likely dovish stance by the Federal Reserve in its policy meeting decision due tonight and continued liquidity infusion by RBI via open market operations (OMOs) also boosted market sentiment.

10870 should be a support level for Nifty50 in coming sessions.
