1st June, Morning Brief

India's GDP growth in 2016-17 is slowest in two years. It was 8 per cent in 2015-16 and 7.5 per cent in the previous year.
Market may react over the lower GDP and in order to get the upward moves healthy and sustainable, some minor corrective action looks imminent and long overdue.
9350 will be the support to re-enter into the rally if you are sitting on cash.

Market may open in red tracking SGX Nifty today.

Following are the factors which may impact the movement if the market in coming week.

👉The government will release the biggest economic indicator numbers – GDP (gross domestic product) data for the fourth quarter of 2017.
The GDP data will be a major factor in deciding market movement. The numbers will mirror the actual progress made by the Modi government.

👉Market Economics is slated to announce the India Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data for May 2017 on Thursday, June 1, 2017. The Nikkei Manufacturing PMI in India stood at 52.5 in April 2017, the same as in March.

👉The arrival of monsoon rains and its progress will be watched closely. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday projected that monsoon rains could be ‘normal’ this year and bring 100 per cent rainfall instead of 96 per cent projected earlier.

👉The correction, which was much anticipated, arrived swiftly and sharply, especially in the midcap and smallcap space, making the foundation of the Nifty50 to move higher. Although, the market did not go below the 9,300 level which can be considered as a good support.

15th May, Morning Brief

SGX Nifty was trading 28.50 points up at 9446.50, indicating a positive start for the market today.
Asian markets are mixed. Hang Seng up by 130 points, SSE & STI are up by 9 points and 14 points respectively whereas Nikkei is down by 33 points.

IIP data & WPI data updates -
With most of the companies putting up a better-than- expected show, earnings is surely going to be a major factor in determining market movement in the coming week.
Under the new series with a 2011-12 base year, the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) rose 5% in the financial year and 2.7% in March, data released on Friday by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) showed.
The CSO and the department of industrial policy and promotion (DIPP) shifted to the more recent base year for IIP and Wholesale Price Index-based (WPI-based) inflation, respectively, to derive a more accurate and realistic picture of the key indicators. This will align these data with gross domestic product (GDP) data, which is already being measured on a 2011-12 base year.
Updated WPI-based inflation for the same month under the new series with a 2011-12 base year also eased to 3.85% in April from 5.3% in the previous month.
