Wall Street ended lower on Thursday, a day after hitting two-month highs, on a fresh wave of China-US tensions that raised doubts about the trade deal reached early this year between the world’s two largest economies.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.41% to end at 24,474.12 points, while the S&P 500 lost 0.78% to 2,948.51. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.97%, to 9,284.88.

Wall Street surged on Thursday as investors weighed the prospect of economic recovery against bellicose remarks from President Donald Trump regarding US-China trade and a whistleblower’s dire warnings about the US response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 377.37 points, or 1.62%, to 23,625.34, the S&P 500 gained 32.5 points, or 1.15%, to 2,852.5 and the Nasdaq Composite added 80.55 points, or 0.91%, to 8,943.72.

The S&P 500 closed slightly higher on Monday as investors looked beyond new spikes in coronavirus infections to focus on expectations that an economy crippled by mandated shutdowns will soon be re-opened for business.
Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.45% to end at 24,221.99 points, while the S&P 500 gained 0.01%, to 2,930.19. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.78% to 9,192.34. Futures on the S&P 500 dipped lower after the index ended flat on Monday.
Oil futures climbed in early trade on Tuesday, boosted by an unexpected commitment from Saudi Arabia to deepen production cuts in June.

Major US stock indexes jumped on Friday and logged solid gains for the week after data on historic job losses due to the coronavirus crisis showed they were slightly fewer than feared. All 11 S&P 500 sectors were positive, led by the beaten-up energy group , which gained 4.3%.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 455.43 points, or 1.91%, to 24,331.32, the S&P 500 gained 48.61 points, or 1.69%, to 2,929.8 and the Nasdaq Composite added 141.66 points, or 1.58%, to 9,121.32.
Reversing their two-month selling streak, overseas investors pumped in a net Rs 15,958 crore in the Indian capital markets in the first week of May. As per latest depositories data, foreign portfolio investors (FPI) infused a net Rs 18,637 crore in equities, but pulled out a net Rs 2,679 crore from the debt segment between May 1-8, taking the cumulative inflow to Rs 15,958 crore.

Asian markets have opened with modest gains on Friday morning as investors continue to weigh moves to reopen economies against the data describing the Covid-19 has inflicted on them.
Futures in the U.S. have edged higher after a positive session on Thursday. The two-year treasury yields steadied after falling to a record low.
Markets in Japan have opened with steady gains, as have those in Australia and South Korea.
Futures on the Dow Jones are currently trading higher by 200 points. The Nasdaq composite turned positive for the year once again, wiping out losses that reached as low as 24 % from its record high.
